Terms of service
Last updated 7 September 2026. Draft for the pre-alpha; it requires legal review before the first merchant.
The service
BuyerClear collects buyer credentials, organises evidence and records your staff’s decisions. It never admits a buyer by itself. A registry match confirms that the source holds an exact identifier and reports whatever status it has; it does not prove that a scanned document is genuine. You remain responsible for who you admit, for the prices you show them and for tax treatment.
Your account
You install BuyerClear into a Shopify store you control. Staff need a current Shopify session to use the app. Free and Core include one deciding reviewer. Existing Volume subscriptions retain multiple deciding reviewers. Decisions are recorded under the staff member’s name. Other authorised staff can still view applications and handle privacy requests.
Fees
Paid plans are not live yet.
Free includes 5 distinct approved buyers and one deciding reviewer. Core is planned at $29/month for additional approved buyers with one deciding reviewer. A place is used on a buyer’s first approval, not on submission; declines and renewals do not use another place. The allowance does not reset monthly. Paid billing requires a separate confirmation in Shopify.
Beyond the free allowance, approving a new buyer requires a paid plan; reaching the limit never creates a charge automatically.
Paid subscriptions will be approved and managed through Shopify’s pricing page, which shows the actual price, billing period and any applicable taxes, trials or discounts before confirmation. BuyerClear does not bill App Store subscriptions outside Shopify. Existing approved access and privacy tools are not removed by a downgrade. Refund and cancellation terms must be finalised before paid launch.
Your data and your buyers’ data
You own the data your buyers submit through BuyerClear. We process it only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for telling your buyers why you collect credentials and for handling their requests; we help you fulfil them.
Acceptable use
Do not use BuyerClear to collect data you have no lawful reason to collect, to discriminate unlawfully, or to check credentials for anything other than admitting buyers to your own store.
Availability and changes
BuyerClear is pre-alpha software. We may change or withdraw features, and outages can happen. We will tell you about material changes by email and give you a way to export your evidence before anything is removed.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for admission decisions, lost sales or tax consequences.
Ending the agreement
Either side can end the agreement at any time. Uninstalling disables app access and tokens; erasure follows Shopify’s shop-redaction request as described in the privacy policy. Either side may end it immediately for a material breach.
Law and disputes
Governing law and venue will be confirmed with a lawyer before the first paid merchant. Until then, disputes are resolved in good faith by email.
